[Application Case] The AUEX module is used in the automotive battery power distribution management unit (BDMU)

Solution March 5, 2026

In the current automotive battery field, cost reduction and space optimization have become core requirements. The high integration of battery distribution unit (BDU) and battery management system (BMS) has become the mainstream trend in the industry. The integration of the two forms the battery distribution and management unit (BDMU), which greatly improves the overall performance and economy of the battery system

The integrated solution has significant core advantages: In terms of space utilization, the integration of BDU and BMS frees up more reserved space for battery pack capacity expansion. Practical experience has shown that this can achieve at least a 5% increase in capacity, directly enhancing the vehicle's range. In terms of cost control, the integrated solution significantly reduces the amount of wiring harnesses and connectors used. Significant cost reduction can be achieved in the wiring harness stage alone, achieving the dual goals of cost reduction and efficiency improvement

Automotive Battery Distribution Management Unit (BDMU)

Solution

This solution uses a Siemens S7-1500 CPU as the control core andestablishes stable communication with the AUEX module through the Profinet bus protocol to build a complete automated control loop:The AUEX digital output module is responsible for driving solenoid valves, actuators and other actuators to achieve precise issuance of action commands; at the same time, the AUEX series IO modules collect various sensor signals in real time and transmit the signals stably to the controller to ensure that the BDMU system can monitor and control the battery status and power distribution in real time.

Among them, the AUEX 8DIAC-EM and 16DIAC-EM expansion modules stand out, as they can directly drive high-power solenoid valves.Compared with traditional relay modules, they have the advantages of small size and convenient wiring, which can further save cabinet space in the production line, simplify the wiring process, reduce installation and subsequent maintenance costs, and adapt to the highly integrated design requirements of automotive battery systems.

Solution Process

AUEX 220V AC signal input module

For 220V AC input scenarios, AUEX has launched two relay output expansion modules, the 8DIAC-EM and 16DIAC-EM. These modulesare not only compatible with BDMU systems in the automotive lithium battery field, but are also widely used in industrial equipment in various industries such as steel hardware, rail transportation, and water treatment, providing flexible and reliable AC signal acquisition support for various automation systems.

This series of modules conforms to general installation standards for industrial equipment, and the installation process is simple and quick, requiring no complicated tools or professional skills, effectively saving installation time and labor costs. With its accurate data acquisition capabilities, stable and reliable performance, convenient installation and maintenance, and strong brand and service guarantees, the modules have become the preferred product for 220V AC digital signal acquisition in industrial settings, providing a solid guarantee for the stable operation of various industrial automation equipment.
