Lithium-ion batteries are a type of battery that uses lithium metal or lithium alloy as the positive/negative electrode material and a non-aqueous electrolyte solution. They are mainly divided into two categories: lithium metal batteries and lithium-ion batteries. The lithium battery manufacturing process is divided into front-end processes (electrode manufacturing), mid-end processes (cell assembly), and back-end processes (formulation and packaging)
After the front-end processes complete the manufacturing of the (positive and negative) electrode sheets, the electrode sheets are assembled with the separator using winding or stacking methods to form a basic battery cell. The cell then undergoes hot pressing for shaping. Hot pressing is a crucial step in battery cell forming; it optimizes the tight bonding of the internal battery structure through heating and pressure, thereby improving battery performance and safety

The wound or stacked battery cells are placed on a template. The pressure of the booster cylinder and the temperature of the template are set. Then, under certain pressure and temperature, the upper and lower templates shape the battery cells, achieving a consistent cell thickness. This reduces the elasticity of the cells, improves the core assembly yield, and ensures the consistency of the finished cell thickness. Under suitable process parameters, thicker cells contain almost no air, and the separator and electrode sheets are tightly bonded together, while loose cells can be transformed into a hard block
